April 25, 2015, Davao City- Every April 25, thousands of children from orphanage, suburb and mountainous areas, and streets are brought to a place called Sonshine Land, where all of their wishes come true. Here, ice cream, cake, candies, juice, milk, popcorn, toys, rides, and a lot more, are handed to them- everything for free!
This is how Pastor Apollo C. Quiboloy, the executive pastor of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ, celebrates his birthday every April 25, which he calls the National Children’s Day. He dedicates it to thousands of destitute children, not only in Davao City, but all over the Philippines, and some 60 key cities in the world, simultaneously.
For a decade now, the KJC central headquarters has been transformed into a Magical Theme Park where popular Disney princesses, superheroes, and kids’ favorite cartoon characters are present. There were also thousands of NCD dance performers who portrayed a flash mob parade, and an “Around the World” presentation to keep the visitors entertained the whole day.
It was like a family day for thousands of families who responded to Pastor Apollo’s invitation.
“Tungod sa kapobre, dili usahay makakaon ang akong mga anak sa usa ka adlaw,” shared Lita, a mother of 4 from Bunawan. “Mao nang dako kaayo among pasalamat kay Pastor Quiboloy kay nakakaon gyud mi ug daghan karon. Unya makadala pa mi ug baon para sa among silingan nga wala nakaadto diri karon,” she added. [Because of poverty, my children barely eat in one day. That’s why we thank Pastor Quiboloy because we are able to eat a lot today. And we could even bring food for our neighbors who couldn’t come with us.]
Meanwhile, various media personalities, military friends, politicians attended the celebration including Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte to personally greet him in his birthday.
