One Tree, One Nation: Nationwide Tree Planting Activity

Volunteers and community members from more than twenty locations all over the Philippines participated in a nationwide tree-planting drive on Saturday, November 16, 2024.

The campaign, which was dubbed as “Isang Puno, Isang Bayan” (One Tree, One Nation) was organized by the supporters of Pastor Apollo C. Quiboloy, spiritual leader of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC). 

According to spokesperson, Atty. Kaye Laurente, the national tree planting activity is an initiative of Pastor Apollo C. Quiboloy and conducted as a response to the damaging effects of flooding in the country. 

WHO IS PASTOR APOLLO C. QUIBOLOY?

Pastor Apollo C. Quiboloy is the spiritual leader of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ, a Davao-based religious community which has grown as one of the fastest growing congregations in the world since 1985. 

Aside from his evangelistic mission, Pastor Apollo is involved in humanitarian causes, particularly those concerning the children, the environment and the indigenous communities.  

He is running as an independent senatorial candidate for the 2025 midterm elections. 

WHAT IS SONSHINE PHILIPPINES MOVEMENT?

Sonshine Philippines Movement is a non-government organization established in 2005 to respond to the looming crisis brought about by climate change. Pastor Apollo C. Quiboloy founded SPM with the guiding principle of restoring the earth to its pristine beauty and affecting the good wherever its banner is raised.

REGION I – DAGUPAN CITY, PANGASINAN

REGION II – RAMON, ISABELA

The One Tree, One Nation national treeplanting activity brought together volunteers from the Philippine National Anti-Crime Group (PNACG), the 5th Infantry Division, the 1st Cavalry Company, the Armor Division of the Philippine Army, the local government of Ramon, together with the Sonshine Philippines Movement and the Keepers Club International.

REGION III – CENTRAL LUZON

Hundreds of Narra saplings were planted by the volunteers of SPM (Sonshine Philippines Movement) in partnership with 3RCDG of the Philippine Army, Kalipunan ng mga Samahang Maka Kalikasan (KASAMAKA), Concerned Responsible Idealistic Patriotic Society (CRIPS), MENRO, and Gen. Tinio Mayor Isidro T. Pajarillaga in support of the “One Tree, One Nation” Nationwide Tree Planting Initiative of Pastor ACQ.

REGION IV – BATANGAS

A former dumping site in Brgy. Tranca, Talisay, Batangas will now be planted with mango saplings.

Various organizations such as the Institute of Integrated Electrical Engineers of the Philippines (IIEE), Veterinarius Animal Clinic, Keepers Club International, and SPM (Sonshine Philippines Movement) Volunteers joined the initiative of Pastor Apollo C. Quiboloy’s “One Tree, One Nation” Nationwide Tree Planting.

REGION VI – AKLAN

Aklan Polytechnic College Students Unite for “One Tree, One Nation” Initiative

Students from Aklan Polytechnic College’s BS Nursing and Marine Transportation enthusiastically joined the “One Tree, One Nation” initiative led by Pastor Apollo C. Quiboloy in Barangay Agbanawan, Banga, Aklan. Inspired by Pastor Quiboloy’s leadership, their participation underscores a dedication to environmental stewardship and community service.

REGION VI – NEGROS OCCIDENTAL

Hinigaran, Negros Occidental

Teachers from the Philanga National High School, joined by the students, pose as they take part in the One Tree, One Nation treeplanting activity at the Eco Park in Sitio Tinago, Bgy. Anahaw, Hinigaran, Negros Occidental.

REGION VII – BOHOL

Keepers Club members, AFP, CAFGU and members of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ did not mind the distance to the area where they planted seedlings for the One Tree, One Nation national tree planting activity initiated by Pastor Apollo C. Quiboloy.

REGION VII – CEBU

Carmen, Cebu – Students, government employees, various civic organizations join the Sonshine Philippines movement in planting mangroves in Carmen, Cebu

REGION VIII – LEYTE

Volunteers brave the rains brought by Typhoon Pepito so they can participate in the nationwide “One Tree, One Nation” treeplaning activity under the initiative of Pastor Apollo C. Quiboloy.

REGION VIII – EASTERN VISAYAS

Students of the Guadalupe National High School, school PTA officials, the Sangguniang Baranggay, Sangguniang Kabataan, the ROTC reservists, the Bureau of Fire Protection, the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office and the fisherfolk join hands with the Sonshine Philippines Movement in planting mangrove seedlings on the shores of Bgy. Guadalupe, Maasin City, Southern Leyte.

REGION IX – ZAMBOANGA PENINSULA

Volunteers from Sonshine Philippines Movement (SPM) of Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC), in cooperation with Ipil LGU (MENRO), PNP, and Brgy. Officials led by Hon. Michael Tarucan of Lower Ipil Heights, Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay.

REGION X – BUKIDNON

Purok 6C, Brgy. Aglayan, Malaybalay City, Bukidnon

Hundreds of volunteers from various sectors participated in the “One Tree, One Nation” Nationwide Tree Planting Activity in Malaybalay, Bukidnon, an initiative of Pastor Apollo C. Quiboloy. The event, aimed at protecting Mother Nature, saw participants planting mahogany and fruit-bearing trees, supporting the ongoing environmental advocacy of the Sonshine Philippines Movement.

REGION XI – EASTWEST DAVAO

Purok St. John, Bucana, Lasang, Davao City.

Thousands of trees were planted in Brgy. Lasang, Davao City, during the “One Tree, One Nation” initiative by SPM, an effort led by Pastor Apollo C. Quiboloy. Participants included JMC students, Keepers Club International, AFP reservists, vloggers, local residents, and Barangay and Youth Councils, all working to combat flooding and protect the environment.

REGION XI – NORTH DAVAO

Tagum City, Davao del Norte — Hundreds of volunteers from the Sonshine Philippines Movement, the Tagum local government, Philippine National Police, PENRO and Keepers Club International join hands in greening Purok 10-A, Bgy San Miguel, Tagum City.

REGION XI – SOUTH DAVAO

Marilog, Davao City.

Many volunteers from various sectors, including youth, students from JMC Junior High School, Senior High School, College of Law, Medtech, Engineering, Psychology, IT, Education, Social Work, teachers from JMC, Davao City Police Office, and KOJC Missionaries, united in the nationwide tree planting. The aim is to combat the worsening effects of climate change and flooding.

REGION XII – NORTH COTABATO

Matalam, North Cotabato.

Under the “One Tree, One Nation” initiative led by Pastor Apollo C. Quiboloy, a nationwide tree planting activity was held in Brgy. New Abra, Matalam, North Cotabato, to combat flooding. Supported by SPM volunteers, local officials, and residents participated, expressing heartfelt gratitude to Pastor Apollo for his dedication to environmental care.

REGION XII – SOUTH COTABATO

Tampakan, South Cotabato – more than 500 volunteers from different sectors gathered to plant endangered narra seedlings at the Kolondtal Eco Park in Tampakan, South Cotabato.

REGION XII – SARANGGANI

Arid and treeless mountainsides of Malungon were visited by volunteers of the Sonshine Philippines Movement, participating in the One Tree, One Nation national treeplanting initiative of Pastor Apollo Quiboloy. The B’laan indigenous people awarded Pastor Apollo C. Quiboloy the title of “Datu Tud Labun” (Peacemaker) for his help to their community.

REGION XIII – CARAGA

Aclan, Nasipit, Agusan del Norte.

The volunteers of Sonshine Philippines Movement, Keepers Club International, Armed Forces of the Philippines, and the Barangay Government Unit of Aclan, Nasipit, Agusan del Norte joined the simultaneous national tree planting. Despite the rain, the volunteers did not mind the fatigue of climbing the steep path to the location where the tree planting took place.

The volunteers in San Jose, Antipolo, Rizal are all set to start and plant for the environment!
